Learning
& water safety

How children build skills, confidence, safety habits, and survival awareness.

Children learn important water safety skills, floating, breathing, kicking, arm movements, beginner swimming techniques, and stroke development. Our goal is to help children feel safe, confident, and comfortable in the water.

Yes. Many children start swim lessons feeling nervous or scared. Our instructors use patience, encouragement, play, and small steps to help each child feel more comfortable.

It is very common for young children or beginners to cry during the first few lessons. Our instructors use gentle encouragement, games, and small steps to help children feel safe and build trust.

Every child learns at a different pace. Some children progress quickly, while others need more time to feel confident in the water. Consistency is one of the most important factors.

Yes. Water safety is one of the most important parts of our program. Children learn how to enter and exit the pool safely, float, breathe, call for help, and develop safe habits around water.

Yes. We include age-appropriate water safety and survival skills, such as floating, breath control, safe pool exits, and learning how to stay calm in the water.

In Florida, children are around pools, beaches, and water activities all year. Year-round swim lessons help children maintain their skills, build confidence, and stay safer in and around the water.

Parents
& class experience

What parents can expect before, during, and after the first lessons.

For babies or very young toddlers, a parent may be asked to join the lesson if it helps the child feel safe and comfortable. For older children, we usually recommend that parents watch from nearby.

Yes, parents can usually watch from a nearby area. We recommend giving your child space to connect with the instructor, especially if they are shy, nervous, or easily distracted.

During the first lesson, the instructor will observe your child’s comfort level, basic skills, confidence in the water, and ability to follow directions. The first class is often about building trust.

What to bring

Swim class essentials, swim diapers, sunscreen, and practical preparation.

Please bring a swimsuit, towel, goggles if your child uses them, sunscreen for outdoor lessons, a water bottle, a change of clothes, sandals or flip-flops, and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

If your child is not fully potty trained, swim diapers are required.

We also recommend arriving a few minutes early so your child has time to get ready before class begins.

Yes. Babies and toddlers who are not fully potty trained must wear swim diapers during class.

Yes, especially for outdoor lessons in Florida. We recommend applying sunscreen before class and bringing extra sunscreen for reapplication if needed.

No worries! SwimfulKids may have basic swim essentials available for purchase when possible, such as sunscreen, swim diapers, bottled water, goggles, and other basic swim accessories. Availability is not guaranteed.

Scheduling, weather
& missed classes

Lesson length, rain, SwimfulKids cancellations, and late arrivals.

Lesson length depends on your child’s age, level, and program type. Most beginner lessons are designed to keep children engaged without overwhelming them.

For outdoor lessons, classes may need to be rescheduled due to lightning, heavy rain, unsafe pool conditions, or severe weather. If the weather is not safe, SwimfulKids will contact families about rescheduling options.

If SwimfulKids cancels a class because of weather, pool closure, instructor emergency, or another issue, we will offer a rescheduling option or make-up lesson whenever possible.

If you arrive late, the lesson may still need to end at the scheduled time so we can stay on schedule for other families. Please try to arrive a few minutes early.

Health
& hygiene

Illness, cold symptoms, bathroom accidents, and pool safety standards.

If your child has a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, a contagious illness, or is not feeling well, please keep them home and notify SwimfulKids as soon as possible.

If your child has only mild symptoms and feels well enough to participate, please use your best judgment. However, if your child has a fever, heavy cough, vomiting, diarrhea, or seems very tired, they should not attend class.

Pool safety and hygiene are very important. If an accident happens, the lesson may need to stop, and the pool may need to be cleared according to facility rules. Children who are not fully potty trained must wear swim diapers.

Payments, cancellations
& refunds

Advance payments, cancellations, make-ups, refunds, and membership notice.

Payments are usually made in advance to reserve your child’s spot, schedule, and instructor. SwimfulKids may offer different payment options depending on the program, private lessons, group classes, or monthly memberships.

Payment in advance reserves your child’s lesson time, instructor, and spot in the schedule. This helps us keep classes organized and maintain consistent availability for families.

We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule a swim lesson, please notify SwimfulKids as early as possible. Cancellations made with proper advance notice may be eligible for a make-up lesson, depending on availability and program type.

We recommend notifying us at least 24 hours before your scheduled lesson whenever possible. This allows us to manage instructor schedules and offer the time to another family.

Last-minute cancellations or no-shows may result in the lesson being charged or forfeited. We try to be flexible when possible, especially for emergencies, but advance notice is very important.

Make-up lessons may be available depending on the reason for the missed lesson, instructor availability, weather, and the type of program or membership.

Make-up lessons are based on availability and are not always guaranteed. We will always try our best to offer available options, but make-ups depend on instructor schedules, class space, weather, and program type.

SwimfulKids payments are generally non-refundable once lessons, packages, or memberships are booked. Your payment reserves your child’s spot, instructor time, and schedule.

Monthly memberships may be paused or canceled according to the membership terms. Families should notify SwimfulKids in advance so we can update the schedule and billing properly.

Membership cancellations require 30 days’ notice before the next billing date. This allows us to update the schedule, instructor availability, and open the spot for another family.
